It’s the holiday season! It’s also that time of year when we ask you to make a financial gift to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity. Your donation helps us create safe and healthy homes that give families long-term stability. A financially stable home then allows parents to spend their income on food, medicine, child care, education, and other essentials rather than on continuous home repairs. Your support helps us partner with more homeowners to achieve that necessary balance.
Join us as we continue to put God’s love into action to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Supporting the community
Habitat’s Home Preservation Program
Not surprisingly, a large number of homes in Pennsylvania are old housing stock and require critical repairs to bring them up to code and make them livable. We want all the residents of our county to live in warm, safe, and dry houses, no matter how old their homes may be.
Our Home Preservation program makes these types of repairs to Monroe County homes. Projects include replacing roofs, installing new windows and doors, repairing floors, upgrading appliances, and building necessary accessibility ramps. Unfortunately, during the course of the year we are only able to help approximately 30 homeowners. There are so many more residents who need our help, but they must remain unserved for lack of funding and a lengthy waitlist.

Your generosity will make it possible for Habitat’s Home Preservation program to expand and partner with more families. Consider donating $10, $20, or $30 a month or make a one-time offering of your choosing. By giving now, you can take advantage of the anonymous matching grant award we received for this Holiday Fundraiser. This generous contribution will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, making your charitable gift twice as powerful here in Monroe County.

Supporting Habitat Beyond Donations
Another way to support Habitat is by shopping at our ReStore, where all proceeds go to Habitat programs. You might also consider volunteering on a home repair job site as part of your New Year’s resolution. There are many other volunteer opportunities, including ReStore, that you can explore.
