ABOUT US
PUTTING LOVE INTO ACTION
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s main focus for 2023 is Home Preservation. This program allows homeowners who are affected by low income, old age or disability to make necessary repairs on their homes. When these critical repairs are not made, homes can potentially become condemned. There is a great need for these types of repairs in our county.

What People Say

“A place to live & grow.”
"Everyone—all of us, every last person on God’s earth—deserves decent shelter. It speaks to the most basic of human needs—our home—the soil from which all of us, every last person, either blossom or wither. We each have need of food, clothing, education, medical care, and companionship; but first, we must have a place to live and grow. "
Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity International

“There's not enough good in the world.”
"There's not enough good in the world, so the more you can put into it, the better the future is going to be."
Steve Bogan, Volunteer

“What the poor need.”
"What the poor need is not charity, but capital, not caseworkers but coworkers."
Clarence Jordan

“A hand up.”
"We help people not by giving them a hand out, but by giving them a hand up."
Kelly Kemmerer, Executive Director

“A home means many things.”
"A home means many things to many people. It's a place where you feel nourishment. It gives a person a place to grow roots and to feel safe. "
