Board of Directors

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity

2025 Board of Directors

Suzanne Young-Mercer

Board President

I am happy to be a Board member of Habitat for Humanity because of the work they do to “help build homes for those in need across the world.” I believe it is a human right that every person has a place to call their own, and what Habitat for Humanity does is to ensure that happens for one family at a time. I also believe that while I am here, I need to make life better for all that I can while I can. That is why I volunteer.

Dennis Mooney

Board Vice President

Throughout my business career I have always felt a responsibility to give back to the community. I served as a Board member of the Arthritis Foundation for sixteen years. In 2000 I was invited to play in the MCHFH Annual Golf Tournament and realized their mission is so vital and this is what I do every day. Since then I have served on the Board of Directors and I chair our Annual Golf Tournament each year!

Paul Suhrie

Board Treasurer

I am truly humbled by being asked to serve on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.

I think God has a way of putting people in the right place at the right time with the right experience and skills to serve his people.

With 30 years of experience in retail management and 14 years as a Home Inspector I feel my skill set, aligns perfectly with Habitat for Humanity of Monroe Counties mission. I am now prepared with this opportunity to give back to my community in a meaningful way.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Mahatma Gandhi

Habitat helped me open a new and useful door in my life when I retired. I chose to walk through that door, and my life has been the better for it.

Elizabeth Jean Darby

Board Member

In 2012 Hurricane Sandy devastated my community. Initially, I felt helpless with little hope of ever recovering.

So many volunteers from Habitat for Humanity came to help rebuild our homes. The volunteers inspired a sense of optimism and confidence that we would overcome this tragedy.

After rebuilding my home, I had the opportunity to become a Board member to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity and help others the way Habitat helped me.

6

Andie Katz

Board Member

As a real estate broker in the Poconos, I understand the importance of home ownership. I am passionate about Habitat for Humanity’s vision to build strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. This is why I dedicate my time and resources to volunteer with this wonderful community of individuals.

Bill Snell

I am a long time resident of Monroe County and had my own mechanical contracting business. Later I taught building trades maintenance full time at Monroe Career and Technical Institute and HVAC part-time at Northampton Community College. I have volunteered with Habitat for over ten years and am currently chairman of the Construction Committee and on the Board of Directors.

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has a mission that directly aligns with who I am. I have found that being of service, especially to those in the world that need an extra hand, provides meaningful purpose in my life. This wonderful organization allows me an opportunity to fulfill that purpose in the community I was raised in and continue to call home. I am honored to be a member of this Board of Directors; a group whose dedication is truly remarkable.
