2026 Board of Directors

Suzanne Young-Mercer

Board President

I am happy to be a Board member of Habitat for Humanity because of the work they do to “help build homes for those in need across the world.” I believe it is a human right that every person has a place to call their own, and what Habitat for Humanity does is to ensure that happens for one family at a time. I also believe that while I am here, I need to make life better for all that I can while I can. That is why I volunteer.

Dennis Mooney

Board Vice President

Throughout my business career I have always felt a responsibility to give back to the community. I served as a Board member of the Arthritis Foundation for sixteen years. In 2000 I was invited to play in the MCHFH Annual Golf Tournament and realized their mission is so vital and this is what I do every day. Since then I have served on the Board of Directors and I chair our Annual Golf Tournament each year!

I am truly humbled by being asked to serve on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.

I think God has a way of putting people in the right place at the right time with the right experience and skills to serve his people.

With 30 years of experience in retail management and 14 years as a Home Inspector I feel my skill set, aligns perfectly with Habitat for Humanity of Monroe Counties mission. I am now prepared with this opportunity to give back to my community in a meaningful way.

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has a mission that directly aligns with who I am. I have found that being of service, especially to those in the world that need an extra hand, provides meaningful purpose in my life. This wonderful organization allows me an opportunity to fulfill that purpose in the community I was raised in and continue to call home. I am honored to be a member of this Board of Directors; a group whose dedication is truly remarkable.

Dave Makarsky

Board Member

A life-long servant leader with 40 years in the hospitality business, I have always felt a call to serve and to make a profoundly positive difference in the lives of other people. Having recently retired, I was honored to be asked to serve on the board of directors. A member of St. Matthew Parish in East Stroudsburg, I find the organization’s faith-based mission compelling. Through our home preservation efforts, we allow a house in need of repairs to become a safe and sound home for residents in our own community. I look forward to using my business skills and my network to support Habitat for Humanity.
