Newswatch 16’s Emily Kress shows how a donation to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity will benefit the county’s residents all year round.
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The season of giving is in full swing in Monroe County.
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity Volunteers are receiving a special donation from Lowe’s to its Restore in Marshalls Creek.
“Every quarter, they will give us whatever is discounted, so it’s a fantastic donation and what a gift to have on Christmas Eve,” explained executive director Scott Fabian.
Volunteers stacked box after box onto a pallet.
Like every gift, the real surprise is what’s inside the box.
“We never know what we are going to get, which could be summertime tables, tubs, commercial washers, and dryers. Today, it happened to be 6,000 4-inch clamps,” explained Fabian.
All the donated items are for sale to the public at the restore, and every dollar spent here stays in the community.
“We are increasing what we do here in the county; we recently bought a home over in Stroudsburg, we are going to rehab and hopefully will have a second home shortly that we can put a struggling renter into a home they otherwise wouldn’t normally be able to afford.” said Fabian.
