Officials with Monroe County Habitat for Humanity want you to have a heart.

The organization is raffling off a heart-shaped tub from one of the iconic “Cove Pocono” resorts.

The resort is now closed. But 69 News Reporter Amelia Sack tells us how you can own a piece of it.

Known for its heart shaped tubs and love-themed decor, the Pocono Palace Resort helped put the region on the map as the honeymoon capital of the world.

The well-known tub was invented by a Morris Wilkins, a Monroe County native.

“It started at the Cesar’s Pocono Palace and Cove Haven, and so it became very popular especially during the 60s and 70s when it was too expensive to travel to places like Niagara Falls, everyone from the city started coming out to the Poconos, and we became the honeymoon capital of the world,” says Scott Fabian, executive director, Monroe County Habitat for Humanity.

After nearly 50 years, Pocono Palace closed, and the property was sold.

Now, its distinctive decorative tubs have been cleaned up and donated to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity. One of them sits on permanent display inside of the organization’s re-store.

“So, you can come and get your picture taken with the heart-shaped tub,” says Fabian.

The others will be raffled off.

“All of that money goes to support Habitat for Humanity where we rebuild homes for people that are low income, we rehab homes then put struggling renters into homes so we’re all about affordable housing here in the Poconos when prices have just skyrocketed,” says Fabian.

Purchasing a ticket means you help someone in need, and it puts you one step closer to owning an iconic piece of the Poconos.
