MARSHALLS CREEK, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has opened a discount home goods and improvement store in Marshalls Creek, but it’s not your average retailer.

The Monroe County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is officially open for business.

Carrying everything from patio furniture to paint, at a low price, and for a good cause. Every penny you spend at their store goes right back to the local organization.

“So this store is huge in the fact that every dollar spent in our ReStore will stay in Monroe County. It will go to our programs,” says executive director Scott Fabian.

Programs that provide elderly, low-income, and disabled people in the county with safe, clean, and affordable housing.

Something Fabian says is in high demand.

“A lot of the homes are aging. There are a lot of what used to be old hunter cabins that people are living in all year round that are not meant to be lived in all year round. And an aging population that hasn’t been able to take care of their homes as much as they probably would have hoped they could.”

Fabian says the need for habitat for humanity’s services has grown over the past few months.

“So the restore that we’re opening will allow us to put more people in homes.”

With donated gently used and brand-new items, shopping the store’s inventory will increase the good the organization can do.
